Carers

Who is a Carer?

A carer is someone who looks after a person who is sick, disabled, vulnerable or frail, a person who would not be able to stay in their own home without the carer's help. This person might be a parent, child, partner, or other family member, or a friend or neighbour.

Many people do not see themselves as carers and many carers taking on responsibility for the welfare of another person do so with very little outside help. Some carers are children who are caring for a parent or family member as well as going to school - we call them Young Carers.

'It is important that carers are aware that there are services which provide support and advice to them...' this continued on West Berkshire Council website, link below.
